Stapled Haemorrhoidopexy (PPH / MIPH)
A circular stapling device repositions and fixes prolapsed haemorrhoidal tissue - correcting Grade III prolapsing haemorrhoids with significantly less post-operative pain than conventional haemorrhoidectomy. Available at the best piles hospital in Hyderabad.
What is Stapled Haemorrhoidopexy (PPH / MIPH)?
Stapled Haemorrhoidopexy - also known as PPH (Procedure for Prolapse and Haemorrhoids) or MIPH (Minimally Invasive Procedure for Haemorrhoids) - uses a circular stapling device to excise a ring of mucosa above the haemorrhoidal tissue, simultaneously interrupting blood supply and repositioning prolapsed haemorrhoids back to their correct anatomical position inside the anal canal. The staple line is placed in the insensate rectal mucosa above the dentate line - accounting for significantly reduced post-operative pain compared to conventional haemorrhoidectomy. Dr. Samhitha Reddy, a leading piles specialist in Hyderabad, performs PPH/MIPH at Lux Hospitals for selected Grade III circumferentially prolapsing haemorrhoids.
How the Procedure Works
Anaesthesia
Spinal or general anaesthesia. Patient positioned in lithotomy.
Dilator & Anoscope Insertion
A circular anal dilator is inserted and sutured to the perianal skin. The Purse-String Anoscope is introduced to the supraanal level.
Purse-String Suture
A purse-string suture is placed circumferentially 4–5 cm proximal to the dentate line - the critical step determining the adequacy of tissue excision.
Stapler Firing
The PPH-03 circular stapler is introduced, the purse string tied, and the stapler fired - excising a ring of mucosa and simultaneously stapling the edges.
Haemostasis & Discharge
Staple line inspected and any bleeding points suture-ligated. Hospital stay typically overnight. Discharge next morning with dietary and activity instructions.
Outcomes
Who Needs This Treatment?
- →Significantly less post-operative pain compared to conventional haemorrhoidectomy
- →Shorter hospital stay - typically overnight vs 2 days for haemorrhoidectomy
- →Faster return to work - light duties in 1–2 weeks
- →Addresses circumferential prolapse in a single procedure
- →Preserves normal anal cushions - less risk of mucus leakage post-surgery
- →Covered by most major health insurance providers at Lux Hospitals, Hyderabad
PPH is an elegant solution for circumferential prolapsing haemorrhoids. Because the staple line is placed above the pain-sensitive zone, patients are genuinely surprised by how much more comfortable their recovery is compared to their expectations.
